There is something deeply satisfying about working with wood that has already lived a life. Most of my pieces are made from cut-offs, reclaimed decking, old fences and whatever else I can get my hands on. The material comes with character already built in — I just try not to get in its way.
My woodworking has taken me further than furniture. I built a hemlock square log house nestled in the forests of Muskoka, Ontario, and later a larger traditional stick frame home set in ten acres of forest in Quebec. Both built by hand, both still standing. I take a quiet pride in that.
